Sound Family Medicine was one of several local businesses to team up with Puyallup Foursquare Church to host a back-to-school event to help more than 250 families in need prepare for the new school year.
Several of our providers – Dr. Grubb, Dr. Taggart, Dr. Farook, and Dr. Nickel – and their teams volunteered their services to provide complimentary sports physicals and immunizations during the event which many families are required to coordinate before school starts. “With more than 30 years of deep roots in this community, we jumped at the opportunity to give back to patients outside of our clinics,” Sound Family Medicine’s clinical educator, Jacque Coffey, shared. “We are honored to volunteer our time to care for our neighbors.”
Other partners in the community joined together to provide free school supplies, hair cuts, vision and dental screenings. There was even time for fun and games! Our young guests enjoyed a complimentary lunch, jumping in bounce house, basketball contests, laser tag and video games.
By the end of the day, the event helped more than 800 kids get ready for another school year and we were honored to be a part of the team to help make this happen.
