Sound Family Medicine is brushing the dirt off our walking shoes as we participate in the American Cancer Society‘s annual Relay for Life. 2019 marks SFM’s 19th year participating and sponsoring Relay for Life. Our goal is to give back to our community and continue fighting for a cure.
Sound Family Medicine is a proud partner of Relay for Life. Each year, providers, staff, patients, friends and family return show their support for the American Cancer Society and those who have battled or are battling cancer.
This year’s relay is Olympics themed will take place on Saturday, July 13th at Sumner High School’s Sunset Stadium. The event is from noon to midnight and each team commits to walking for all twelve hours, having at least one teammate on the track at all times. In this, teams show their camaraderie in continuing to be with cancer survivors who are fighting day and night.
After sunset, participants light paper bag Lumineras in honor of those who have passed away from cancer in a beautiful tribute and act of solidarity.
All money raised by teams and sponsors goes directly to the American Cancer Society and in turn, cancer patients and survivors through different outreaches like offering free makeup classes to those going through chemotherapy to teach them how to draw on eyebrows and style wigs, or by providing free rides and lodging for people travelling long distances to and from chemotherapy.
