Jennifer Pense, DO
Born and raised in Puyallup, I am excited to return to my hometown to help care for the community that has given so much to me. Developing strong patient-physician relationships is the cornerstone for why I chose family medicine. Full spectrum family medicine is unique in its ability to allow physicians to care for patients through all stages of life and create bonds that transcend through the family from infancy to grandparents. I hope that I can use these relationships to provide patients a place that they can express themselves and feel that they have been heard, are given all the options in their care, and can make a decision without ever feeling judged. Through education and presenting options, I hope to give patients the ability to empower themselves in the healthcare process.
A Cougar through and through, I graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. I received my medical degree at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA and completed my family medicine residency at Valley Family Medicine in Renton, WA.
Throughout my training, I had a particular interest in pediatrics, women’s healthcare, and obstetrics. My passion for obstetrics led me to being fellowship trained in High Risk Obstetrics for Family Medicine at Swedish Medical Center- First Hill and gave me the opportunity to perform cesarean sections. I am excited to bring this service to my patients at Sound Family Medicine.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family and friends. We enjoy taking advantage of all the outdoor opportunities the great Pacific Northwest offers including hiking, biking, and our newest activity, paddle boarding.
