Heather Hokanson, MSN, ARNP
I provide family care with an emphasis on women’s health and obstetrics. As a board certified advanced nurse practitioner in family medicine, I can perform many procedures and prescribe medications, in addition to seeing and assessing patients. I enjoy being a resource for my patients, educating them about their healthcare choices and helping them make the best decisions about their treatment.
I was raised in the Bonney Lake area and earned my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Pacific Lutheran University. Following graduation, I joined the Army and spent the following five years in Fairbanks, Alaska working in the areas of surgery and labor and delivery.
I joined Sound Family Medicine in 2009. In between Alaska and Sound Family Medicine, I worked in a women’s health clinic in Federal Way and at Good Samaritan in labor and delivery, postpartum, and the nursery. In 2008, I also I earned my Masters in Family Practice from PLU.
As the mom of three boys, I can empathize with my patients who are dealing with the joys and challenges of work, parenthood and life. In my personal life, I’m active in my church and enjoy spending time with my family hiking and biking. I’m also the troop leader for my son’s Cub Scout Pack.
See what her patients had to say:
- “This was my first visit to Sound Family Medicine and I couldn’t be more impressed. The staff were so warm, welcoming, helpful, kind, and comforting. I felt like I received answers and help. I left feeling hopeful and cared about. I don’t mind the 45-minute drive because this office is just that incredible. I am so thankful to have found you!” – Kailee
- “Such a wonderful healthcare provider. I felt like I could speak freely and I was heard. No judgement. I really appreciated her sense of humor.” -Traci
