Bradley Smith, PA-C
As a family medicine Physician Assistant, I provide comprehensive primary care and women’s healthcare for patients of all ages. I provide maternity care in partnership with Dr. Aversa, my supervising physician.
My treatment philosophy is founded upon mutual respect and compassion, and I believe patient care should be a collaborative endeavor. I strive to balance the art of patient care with the science of medicine. Medicine is an applied science in many ways. I approach medicine using the scientific method and hypothesis testing. I only order those tests that I think will yield valuable evidence. My goal is to provide more efficient and more effective patient care.
I am a native of Wichita, Kansas and I attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduation, I joined the Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps. I was assigned to 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in 2004. After arriving, it quickly became apparent that my Squadron Physician Assistant had a much better job than I did! I deployed to Baghdad from 2006-2007 as the Medical Platoon Leader of 1st Squadron, 14th US Cavalry. It was my privilege to work alongside the finest medics, physician assistants (PAs) and physicians in the Army. I am indebted to Major Isaac and Captain Seelen, our unit’s providers, whose mentorship and encouragement led me to pursue Physician Assistant education. In 2008, I began part-time service in the Army National Guard.
I graduated from the MEDEX Northwest at the University of Washington School of Medicine. My clinical training focused on family medicine, obstetrics and pediatrics. During my training, I enjoyed working with medically underserved communities in Kitsap and Pierce counties. I received my obstetrics training at Naval Hospital Bremerton, and I continue to volunteer there 1 day per week.
My wife and I met when we were in high school, and we have been blessed with two active children. Anytime we are able, we spend time exploring the landscape of the Northwest. I have been a science fiction fan since childhood. When I am not working, you can find me watching reruns of Star Trek or reading old novels by Ray Bradbury and Arthur C. Clarke.
See what his patients had to say:
- “Mr. Smith has proven to be a trusted healthcare provider. He listens to concerns and demonstrates genuine compassion and respect for his patients. He also takes an appropriately conservative approach when prescribing meds, opting for a less invasive approach and adjusting from there. I am amazed by – and very appreciative of – his demeanor, expertise and the time he dedicates to his patients.” -Dawn
- “When I called to see if Mr. Smith had an appointment, they informed me that he was completely booked but said he wanted to see me and would make it work. So instead of going to someone who didn’t know my personal medical history, he made room for me. He helped me, he made me feel less anxious, and he just really went out of his way to make me feel like I was going to be okay. He has empathy and that is why he is my favorite doctor I have ever had.” -Katherine
