Dr. Neena Chawla considers it an honor and a privilege to be a part of her patient’s care team. Building a partnership with her patients is important and providing education about their condition plays a crucial role in maintaining a trusting relationship. She strives to look beyond the immediate problem and be a “detective” of sorts to help her patient identify the root problem.
As an internist, she cares for adult patients as a whole person and approaches their issues with a holistic view. She also focuses on managing chronic diseases and conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. She enjoys helping patients with obesity, weight loss, and depression along with preventative and acute care.
She is originally from India, where she attended medical school at Delhi University’s Lady Hardinge Medical College. After medical school, she completed residency training at the University of Southern California and an internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Prior to joining Sound Family Medicine, she worked as an internist for another local hospital group, where she evaluated and managed chronic illnesses for adult patients and provided preventive care including well-woman examinations. She also spent time working in a nursing home, resulting in a wide range of experiences that help her to provide all her patients with exceptional internal care.
When she’s not caring for patients in the office, she enjoys traveling and other activities with her family. She also volunteers her time, as she believes it is important to be a part of the community she lives and works in.
