Nursing has been in Ms. Katy Palmer’s blood since her teen years. She was fascinated with human anatomy and physiology, so she spent time shadowing a nurse to learn more. After a short mission trip, she was convinced that nursing was the most practical way to help people. She chose family practice because she loves the variety that each stage of life has to offer. One of her greatest joys comes from teaching patients how to care for themselves and their families. She believes education is key in deciding on a plan of care and strongly promotes prevention measures like screening tests and vaccinations.
She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hawaii Pacific University and then spent the next 9 years in hospital, outpatient and emergency settings. She decided to step up her nursing scope of practice and went back to school to earn her Master of Science in Nursing from Concordia University Wisconsin. She is now board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
She refreshes her life by attending church, spending time with family and friends, gardening, cooking and learning new things. She grew up on an island in Alaska, so the great outdoors is a big part of her. Spring and summers offer such beautiful hiking and camping spots here in Washington. Get out there and enjoy!
