Kathryn Annand, MD

Dr. Kathryn Annand is a family medicine physician who joins us at the Sound Family Medicine 31st Avenue clinic. Her healthcare philosophy goes full-circle with the intention to treat the whole person: physically, mentally, and with a focus on prevention. She also specializes in obstetrics and is available to see patients for OB/Maternity care.

Originally from New England, Dr. Annand spent much of her life on the East Coast before moving to Washington for her residency. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. Her family medicine residency was completed at Community Health Care in Tacoma, Washington, where she trained in full-scope family medicine, including obstetrics. Thanks to this residency in beautiful Washington State, she decided to leave the East Coast behind and make the Pacific Northwest her home.

Dr. Annand chose family medicine for its variety and the opportunity to provide care throughout every stage of life. As a physician who also sees maternity patients, she enjoys being able to provide care and guidance for patients on their path to good health from the very beginning.

In terms of family medicine, Dr. Annand values it in particular thanks to the continuity of care. She recognizes the value in getting to know individuals, developing relationships with whole families, and enjoys seeing growth and progress over the years. Her approach to healthcare emphasizes partnership, constructive patient education, and shared decision-making in order to help patients feel informed and empowered in their healthcare choices.

Outside of work, Dr. Annand enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, spending time outside on the water, and interior design.
