After years of working in hospitals, Mrs. Tapec decided to work in family practice because she was always wanting to continue relationships with her patients beyond their hospital experience. She decided that she needed to be in a setting where she could be with patients throughout all different stages of their life.
Her favorite aspect of family practice is the relationships that are built with patients and their families. It is a very special and unique bond. With her patients, she hopes to have a relationship that is founded on honesty and trust. She strives to be a provider that people can feel at ease talking to and know they can depend on. She is also very passionate at looking at the patient as a whole. She wants to build a partnership where she helps them achieve their health goals and nurtures an environment where they feel comfortable being in charge of their health.
Mrs. Tapec grew up in a small town in the middle of Michigan. She loves playing sports (basketball, track, volleyball, lacrosse) and was also in choir all through school. She worked various jobs throughout high school and college but in working as a CNA found her real passion for caring for others.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Alma College in Michigan and later attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as a travel nurse across the country before ending in Washington where she worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital Family Birth Center. During that time, she completed her Family Nurse Practitioner program through Chamberlain University and finished her clinical rotation with Sound Family Medicine.
Family is extremely important to her. She is very close with her family and loves spending time with them. She lives in the Puyallup/Tacoma area with her husband, who works in law enforcement. She has two daughters, one son, and an English Mastiff named Deebo.
She loves anything outdoors and active – hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, BBQs, etc. She also loves reading, watching shows and movies, karaoke, painting, playing games/sports and travel. Her team is the Green Bay Packers (Go Pack Go!).
She is extremely happy to have found her home with Sound Family Medicine and looks forward to serving the people of this community.
