Biography

Dr. John Dinh was born in Utah after his family moved from Vietnam as refugees thanks to a sponsorship during the war. The experience was a lesson in humility and respect, allowing him to pursue higher education opportunities all across the United States. He attended medical school at Rush University in Illinois, known for providing care for professional athletes from the Chicago Bulls and White Sox. He was an intern at the National Institutes of Health when the Pentagon was attacked in 2001 and studied laboratory medicine before the 12-year rebuild of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco. He spent his residency training learning to care for families near Flint, Michigan during the water crisis. After completing her studies to become an architect, his wife Kim Anh accepted a job in Seattle. They settled in Puyallup and Dr. Dinh joined the team at Summit View.

The SARS-CoV pandemic became a pivotal time for expanding his philosophy regarding medicine. He is passionate about education and integrity in order to help patients understand their own choices, stating to “Live the best life you can live! Choose wisely as stewards of your own resources.” He believes that within the standard of care is quality of care. One size does not fit all, and the same treatment is unique to each individual. He explored these ideas as Medical Director of Capital Primary Care clinics in Olympia. Now, he has returned to his roots as a primary care provider at Sound Family Medicine.

As the clinic is only a skip away from home, he hopes to meet more of his neighbors and learn from them. He wonders, “How do you access health care? And how do you access Washington?” For Dr. Dinh, living in Washington State has brought him some of the most wonderful snow, mountain, and water sports. Despite increased popularity, accessibility to the outdoors has afforded him more health and fulfillment than money can buy. He looks forward to guiding you on your health care journey and learning what you love most about living here.
