Ms. Cyndi Desmond sees her main role as a patient advocate, helping patients negotiate the complex health care system and make informed decisions about their own health care. Being able to connect closely with different generations of the same family is another reward. She enjoys the variety of medical challenges that she encounters daily.
She became a nurse in 1983, receiving both her RN and ARNP training at Pace University in New York City. She sees nursing in part as a way to combine her love of speaking Spanish as a second language with her desire to help others. She is fluent in Spanish and is gradually building a Hispanic patient base.
In 1996, she and her family relocated from New York City to Pierce County. Her hobbies include cross-country skiing, canoeing, and training her soft coated-wheaten terriers.
