History of practice
Sound Family Medicine began as South Hill Family Medicine in 1984, when Dr. Rebecca Sullivan, MD left military service to start a family practice in partnership with Mike Young, MD in a small office on 112th Street. Two years later Hartland Medical Center was completed, and the practice moved to the new office. The concept from the beginning was to locate our office near where our patients lived and worked. Dr. Ed Pullen joined the group the next year after leaving military service.
Over the years our practice has grown to include nurse practitioners
and physician assistants, as well as our board-certified family
physicians. Doctors Don Sinden, Nancy Grubb, Marc Aversa, Kevin Taggart,
Chris Young, Darin Blackburn, Susie McDonald, Tammy D'Souza, Jennifer
Knowles, Sean Stout, Mohit Mahajan, Julie Komarow, Daren Mealer and
Daniel Wells have joined the practice over the years. Curtis Allen PA-C,
James Gee PA-C, Andrew Poplawski PA-C, David Nieman PA-C, Cydne
Marckmann ARNP, Cyndi Desmond ARNP, Sonya Cottrell PA-C, Rhoda Brooks
PA-C, Paul Gibson PA-C, Brandon Swisher PA-C, Jennifer Buchan PA-C,
Sandra Loyer PA-C and Johny Lee PA-C have joined as physician assistants
(PA-Cs) and registered nurse practitioners (ARNPs).
Our practice has continued to grow to help meet the need for primary medicine in the Eastern Pierce County area. In September 2002, our name changed to Sound Family Medicine when we expanded to the Bonney Lake location. We continue to grow to help meet the expanding needs of our community, and our third office opened November 2004 at Sunrise Medical Campus on Sunrise Boulevard (1/2 mile east of 176th & Meridian). In early 2008, we moved our Bonney Lake Same-Day Clinic into it's
own suite, dedicated to the urgent-care needs of our patients. Dr’s
Taggart and Young also moved into their own space, Hartland III, across
from our Hartland Medical Center offices in May. At the end of the
summer, our Sunrise location will be moving into a brand new facility
currently undergoing construction at the Sunrise Medical Campus. We continue to locate physicians' offices near the homes of our patients. We believe this will result in more convenient care and better service to our patients.
