Jeremy Van Gieson, DO
I enjoy practicing medicine, especially in an environment that allows me to develop long-lasting relationships with patients and fellow practitioners. Sound Family Medicine’s Sunrise Clinic is the ideal setting to do just that. An added benefit – it’s given me the chance to do what I love in the community I grew up in.
It took 15 years from the time I graduated from Puyallup High School to return to the area. After a 2-year mission for my church in Brazil in the late ‘90s, I came back to the states for college. I earned my bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University, and then studied medicine at the University of Osteopathic Medicine Center in Des Moines, Iowa. I completed my residency in family practice in Michigan, and also have experience in surgery and urgent care.
I’m often asked what a patient should expect in a visit to an Osteopath– the answer is you probably won’t notice much difference from a visit to an MD. Osteopaths have the same training as MDs, with extra time spent learning manipulation techniques. This gives a DO an additional tool in his or her toolkit to address a patient’s injury or illness.
My wife and I enjoy traveling and outdoor activities including hiking and biking. With four young children, much of my free time is spent just enjoying their company.
